Check yourself Out!

I was scoping HelloGiggles yesterday (one of my favorite girl-power websites!) and stumbled upon an article about the age of myspace, xanga, livejournal, aol, instant messages, and more. Yeah, you remember those days? I definitely do. I was all over myspace and finding any way I could to write about anything and everything. Facebook came along and all of those pioneers of social networking vanished with blogger, wordpress, twitter, and so many others taking their place. Now we suffer through Timeline changes on facebook and the fact that all of our friends have the option of going down our memory lane. I think it's actually crazy to think of how much social networking has evolved in the past 10 years but ...back to what I was saying.
After reading the article on HelloGiggles, I googled myself just to see what would come up if anyone cared to check up on me. I wanted to check myself out first. The amount of links I found that all pertained to me was absolutely insane! I found picasa, flickr, etsy, facebook, twitter, tumblr, blogger accounts and so many more. Half of them I still use and others not so much and I definitely don't want anyone else to look at those. Talk about an open photo album of my past, not that there is anything incriminating, but who wants to see them anyway ; ) !
I went through and made a list of the accounts I needed to delete and now I am going on a cleansing spree. Cleaning out all of my accounts that I definitely do not need anymore. You all should check yourself out on the internet and see how much of a presence you have on there. You may be totally surprised like I was or you may totally go down memory lane and enjoy it, who knows.
I think with this day and age, employers are looking more and more into their potential employees and it is always best to do a clean sweep every once in a while and make sure everything you have on the internet is appropriate for anyone to see.

Either way, the article I read was hilarious and what I found was interesting as well.
So check yourself out before someone else does!

Sunny days!

Wrap Sweater: Forever21, Denim Skinny Jeans: H&M, Semi-booties: Lucky Brand, Sunglasses: Tory Burch

my first outfit post. here we goooo! i used to write a fashion blog and i loved it but wanted a place to be able to write about everything and not strictly fashion. anyway, i still love fashion and everything that comes along with it, so i will be doing outfit and fashion posts at least once a week. hope you like or you can leave...HA, just kidding, but really, i hope you like :) so back to my outfit post, it's a....preview of spring! woo hoo! today was A W E S O M E. sunny, bright outside, warmer than usual. i was able to wear open-toe shoes without losing feeling in my feet. i know, it's too early for that, but I didn't care, so I let the suckers out. by the way, I realized how badly I need a pedicure, oh well.

anyway, so all my goofy (some blurry but I liked the effect) photos I took today are here for you all to see. i love this wrap chevron sweater that I've had for a couple years from Forever21. it's heavy and definitely doesn't look like it's from Forever21 but it's one of my favorite every-day sweaters.

i had to take a mini-road trip today with my favorite. we drove to Dover for me to get some paperwork done and then grabbed some lunch on the road. it made me want to go on a road trip so badly. cross-country road trip anyone....?...anyone?

i also did this weird twisty-braid ponytail today. it was my own creation (only because I didn't feel like washing my hair today). I wish the photos showed it better but it was pretty fun since I am clueless on how to do cute hair styles. i was pretty proud of myself!

and these are my most comfortable heels that I have ever purchased. i bought them in different colors last year, yep...obsession.

anyway, I hope you all enjoyed this awesome, sunny, beautiful day.
i'm off to eat some dinner.

Oh, H&M.

i love H&M and probably go there at least every two weeks but lately I love it even more after seeing all of the GORGEOUS dresses on their website for the spring. not only are they gorgeous but they are super cheap as well. here are some of my favorites:

i know there a lot but I loved so many. there is a nice mix between dressy, casual, and beachy. makes me want to go on a trip, tomorrow. the prices are ranging from $14.95 to $39.95.  not bad right?
i want them all.

enjoy!

Style I'm lovin'

i had major writer's block today for some awful reason. i had planned to regale you with my weekend activities....yeah they weren't too exciting besides my eating/shopping marathons, dinner dates, and bowling. not blog worthy. anyway, what did interest me....

i saw Cameron Diaz wearing this a few weeks ago and loved it and then opened up my issue of People tonight to find some inspiration, only to find a photo of Cameron in my favorite outfit again. it's taunting me, so I need to blog about it.

i have major spring fever and this warmer weather isn't really helping. i want it to magically change to spring over night, with sunshine, warmER weather, and flowers all around. so if anyone could make that happen, i'd be so glad. back to what I was saying, i love, I mean LOVE Cameron Diaz's outfit above. i love the polka dots, the full skirt on this dress, her hair pulled back, the red lipstick, and of course her sandal/heel. it is the cutest combination. with spring right around the corner (or tomorrow), this is a perfect outfit and I want it.

so I found this pretty alternative from topshop.com that is probably WAY cheaper than what Cameron is wearing for only $72.

and this one from asos.com for only $50.

oh, and this one from forever21 for only $24.50!

what do you think of the polka dots? over them?
well, I'm not! still love them and still am rocking them and any other funky prints!

happy monday!

10 things for thursday

1. it was over 60 degrees in FEBRUARY. when and how does that happen? i honestly don't care but I was so incredibly happy! i was able to take the dogs for a walk without freezing my bum off. i drove with the windows down, blaring some jams, and was so freaking happy, i smiled all day.
2. funny for the day: Buddy, my oldman fatboy dog who doesn't like authority or anyone telling him what to do, was enjoying his nice...slow...little stroll around the neighborhood and decided to do his business right in front of this sign:

oh Buddy. his way of saying, 'yeah, I do what I want'. i cleaned up after my dog of course but I laughed for the rest of the walk. love my fatboy.

3. i got through half of my kickboxing workout and couldn't finish the rest. i was ready to die. my goal is to keep trying until I can finish the entire work out. baby steps!
4. baked these beauties with my momma. we bonded over the chocolate frosting and the perfect way to frost a cupcake so it looks gourmet. hey, we tried. then I proceeded to try the cupcakes and all the different kinds of icing...(so much for the kickboxing workout).

5. This necklace from Colorblockshop on Etsy. I want.

6. i've decided I want to start my own business.
7. and write a book.
8. singing shows have taken over my life. between Xfactor, Glee, The Voice, and American Idol...my tv time has taken over a large part of my life lately and has me belting out in song at any given moment. bot kidding.
9. i decided...in March..I will be going here...with some of my favorite gals...

oh, Miami beach.

10. last but not least....Thursday made me realize how much I don't really enjoy Starbucks (well except their passion tea). I was blogging/doing work there tonight and ordered something that just confirmed how much I'd rather have Dunkin Donuts. DD for Life.

sorry to bore you all with the 10 Things Thursday.
hopefully I will have more for you tomorrow.

have a fantastic day : )

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

It's been one of those days.

today was one of those days. i'll explain.
sometimes I work on a timeline and I don't mean deadlines for work, but I mean for life. yep, a timeline of sorts: when I should be in the job of my dreams, where I should be traveling, when I should be getting married, when I should be having kids, and so on and so forth. If my timeline isn't on track, I start to get severe anxiety and at times, burst into tears, like today.
i'm in between dreams right now, so my timeline is on hold at the moment, while I try to make two dreams happen at once, or at times, try to figure out which dream is more important.
have I confused you all yet? Sorry.
anyway, I stumbled upon this (below) on Pinterest today and it made absolute perfect sense.
don't you agree?

complicating things is my talent. i complicate them so much that at times they seem impossible and today I could have been awarded a prize for how complicated I actually made things. there were tears involved, panic over my failure to follow my timeline.
what I'm realizing right now (after regaining composure....yikes, the things our minds do to us!) is that timelines, paths, to-do lists, or any other material that marks our life path is meaningless in comparison to happiness. my timeline used to be a 'path' to my happiness but what I'm realizing is that I don't really need a timeline to find happiness, i just have to concentrate on finding what makes me happy without putting a time-frame on it.
ah, lessons! I'm glad I could provide one for you all today.

my mission from now on is to find what makes me happy, to make that life for myself...a life that I find worth living no matter the time-frame.

and with that Happy Wednesday : )

what's your mission? please tell me you have one too :)

Everyday I'm...Pinterestin'

i'm HUBsessed, like obsessed but way way way more. there is an open-tab on my computer at all times for....Pinterest.
if you haven't all ready, follow me on Pinterest via the link at the top of my blog. it's too much fun not to!
some of my favs that I pinned today:

the yellow, the greens, whites, and sunshine all remind me of spring and summer. with the weather lately, I've just wanted to bust out my summer dresses and wedges. how about you? keep the 60 degree weather here for good, PLEASE!

i normally wear two-piece bathing suits but this retro-trend going on with bathing suits now has gotten to me. i love this look above, especially the big wide-brimmed hat. the whole picture is fantastic but the bathing suit is super cute and flattering. i wonder if I could pull it off? hehe

THIS COLOR GREEN. that is all I have to say.

well, obviously!

so very true. I find myself needing to do this quite a bit lately.

zucchini chips? yum. i'm making these this week.

just a few of my fav pins this week.
what are some of yours?

Weekend Recap: THON 2012, For the Kids

last weekend, i traveled to State College, PA with my family to cheer on and support my little brother, Pete, as he participated in the annual dance marathon, THON, at Penn State University.
THON happens to be the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. it is a year-long effort, where the students at PSU, gather together, and raise funds as well as awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. my brother has been participating for the last two years and I still am in awe as to how awesome this effort truly is.

it is a 46-hour dance marathon where the 'dancers' cannot sit for 46 hours, while they have teams of students there to boost their morale and support them throughout the weekend. there is live entertainment, dancing, singing, games, and more. there are families and children that have been supported by this effort there, joining in on the fun, and simply being a kid again away from the diagnosis, procedures, hospital beds, and so on.

it is truly an inspiration to watch all of these students gathered together in the Bryce Jordan Center, packing it to the brim, chanting, singing together, hugging, and cheering on each other. at a time where Penn State has been scrutinized and many have felt the effects of the news media coverage and allegations, this past weekend portrayed PSU in solidarity, leadership, courage, and with kindness in their hearts. It is inspiring to watch groups of students, swaying together to the music, cheering on the kids as they sing on stage, and keeping the dancers' spirits alive despite the hours passing by with no rest.

i can keep going on and on but I simply wanted to share some photos of this past weekend and the efforts of these students, facing head on any challenges they have been up against, and doing something for the greater good that has affected SO many people in the BEST way.

oh and by the way, they raised almost 10.7 million dollars. pretty incredible huh? yeah I thought so.
it's incredible what people can do, when they really put their minds AND hearts to it, right?
an inspiration, at the very least.

Weekend Re-wind

this weekend went by quickly with nothing too exciting going on but I really don't mind those kind of weekends. spent most of Saturday and Sunday with my mom and my favorite second momma, Shims (I will only call her that name). between some shopping, eating, more shopping, laughing...it was pretty awesome.

mom and shims

sunday night, instead of sitting on my couch and watching the grammys (I dvr'd them of course), I went to the movies to see The Vow with Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams and my lovaaa of course. i had been dying to see this movie since the day i cried watching the trailer. like i said in my previous post, i am way too emotional for these kinds of movies. anyway, it was a complete emotional roller coaster. icried probably most of the movie. it was a good, tragic love story but for some reason it didn't really do it for me but hey, nothing beats The Notebook. i was pretty surprised that it was loosely based on true events. that's scary to think about. Anyway Channing Tatum was absolutely drop dead gorgeous as usual and Rachel McAdams is still my favorite.

then my favorite and i proceeded to buy valentine's box of chocolates and eat them all, just like in the movie. aren't we presh? hehe

 ah, sigh.

Happy Monday!

xoxo

I'm here, there, every where.

I've been all over the place lately and it seems like I haven't been able to blog. I was in Connecticut last week and am back home today, running numerous amounts of errands, and trying to get my life BACK in order (if it was ever!). I've been in quite a slump lately, in every aspect of my life and so I haven't really given 2012 a great shot yet, which is disappointing. So...I am vowing to do that now. Simply speaking, I need to smile and get my shit together; pinky swear.

Sorry you're getting an emotional/gushy post today! When you mix an overly emotional person with a blog, sometimes it just happens. I promise they will come few and far between.

Anyway, back to my post: I need some changes in the near future and right now I'm trying to figure out what is BEST for me, where I want to see myself, and well, basically...I'm doing a little re-vamping on the life picture right now. I have been mulling it over and over...and over...again and again in my head. What do I want to do with my life right now? Do I like where I am ? Should I reconsider my dreams, goals, and more? Well...there were yes' and no's thrown in the mix and so I've decided that maybe a little soul-searching is what I need.

The word soul-searching kind of scares me a little bit. Sometimes I am not sure if I can sit down with myself long enough without either getting disappointed, lost, or any other negative feeling but nonetheless, this sit-down with me has been long over-due and now it's completely necessary.

I've decided to make a mood board. Have you heard of it? I need to get back to the roots of me, find me again, and what I love. I've ignored this for too long. A little mood board, with pictures of what makes me...me, is just in need. It materializes everything right in front of our eyes: what inspires you, what you like, what you care about, what you see for you, and more. If you are ever in a slump, one of these babies might help..or at least it'll give you something fun to do.

There is no doubt that I need to find me again and just add a little more glue, glitter, or what ever is needed back to my original plan. Life is short, yes, but there is room for mistakes, learning, and of course following what ever path comes along your way. The beauty of it all, is that we don't have to stay on one path forever. This way, we have so much scenery to enjoy.

Here's to my next path....and yours : )

Weekend Re-wind and more.

I'M BeTTEr!
Finally!
Woo Hoo!

I felt like total dog poop last week. I was on the couch with no desire to do anything; blog, read, watch tv, shop (yep), nothing...sucked! I started feeling better over the weekend, just in time for the ...Superbowl...woo! (not really). I wasn't too excited to watch this year's Superbowl but nonetheless, I baked some awesome desserts and can't pass up a day to hang out with the fam!
So that was basically the highlight of my weekend and of course I snapped some photos (crappy ones, with the iphone, sorry!).

Here's a little collage from the mini Superbowl party this weekend. Ps: I think I ate enough for the entire week, oh well : )

and of course this little face. how could I not post it? hehe

How was your weekend? Did your team win?
Congrats NY : )
